Thinking of Applying to AMS?

Sending your child to Arthur Morgan School is a big decision!  Our school community is small, tight-knit, and totally unique.  It’s important that new students understand what to expect, and feel excited to participate fully in our program.  Our admissions process works to ensure that all your questions are answered.  We want to give both you and your child a true sense of what their life would be like were they to attend AMS.

We are now accepting applications for the 2025-2026 school year!

TIMELINE

Arthur Morgan School accepts new students on a rolling basis for the next school year. Mid-year enrollment is not possible.

If you think AMS may be the right for your family, please contact us as soon as possible to start the application process. Interviews start as early as October of the year prior to enrollment. The majority of interviews take place in January and February. There is often room for later interviews in April.  On occasion we continue accepting students through the summer, though interviewing during the school year is strongly preferred.

AGE RESTRICTIONS

Arthur Morgan School enrolls students who are 12-15 during their time at AMS.  If your child will not be 12 yet at the start of the school year (end of August) or if your child will turn 16 prior to graduation during their ninth grade year (end of May), please reach out to the admissions coordinator prior to submitting the application.

Step 1: Contact Us!

It’s hard to put everything there is to know about AMS into a single website. So much of our school is communicated through the stories of our students and experiences. We want to get to know you so before you do anything else, schedule a phone call by submitting an inquiry below. Our Admissions Coordinator will answer all your questions and make sure AMS is the right fit for your family.

Step 2: Fill out the Application!

To ensure that AMS is the best fit for your child, our admissions process seeks to learn as much about them and your family as we can. Gathering this information helps us understand how your child might fit into the community.

The application consists of a parent portion, a student portion (to be answered by the applicant without parental editing or input), a place for contact information for three references, and a $50 application fee. You can fill out the entire application online here:

Step 3: Interview!

Arthur Morgan School is distinctly different from most schools. Over the years we have found that a visit to the school is essential for proper assessment by you, your child, and us. To provide applicants with a realistic feel for what life at AMS is like we require an on-campus interview.  Boarding applicants interview for two school days and one night. Day students interview for a full school day.

Our interview process does not consist of a formal interview – the interview is a day (for day applicants) or two days (for boarding applicants) of experiencing Arthur Morgan School! While interviewing, applicants will be assigned a student host each day. They will shadow their host throughout the school day, attending their classes and activities. Applicants are expected to participate in all parts of the program to see if AMS is right for them.  At the end of the school day, boarding student applicants will go to one of the boarding houses where they will spend the night and experience boarding life first hand.

When you bring your child for their interview, you will be invited to join our morning sing at 8:30am. At 9:00am, your child will go to class and our Admissions Coordinator will give you a tour of campus and the boarding houses, answering any questions you have about AMS. Day student applicants should be picked up at 4:15pm, boarding student applicants will be picked up at 4:15pm the following day.

Step 4: Enroll!

After your interview, current students and staff will provide feedback about your child’s visit. If staff and students decide that AMS is a good fit for your child, we will call you with the decision and send you an acceptance letter and enrollment form.

To secure your child’s spot, we ask for a deposit: $2000 for boarding students, $1000 for day students. Once the deposit is received, your child’s spot is secured for the following school year.
