Community Service

Community service was an important component of adolescent education to Elizabeth Morgan when she founded AMS, and it remains a large part of our curriculum today. It is a key part of service learning trips, and our weekly work projects often include service in the wider community. For example, students and staff have helped maintain mountain trails, conducted roadside cleanup, planted a garden at a local day program for adults with disabilities, and worked with local nonprofit organizations such as the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Whenever the opportunity arises, we try to help those in need, both here in our local community and in other places.

Our emphasis on community service and environmental education helps students grow into adults who care about the world around them- adults who can give of themselves to make the world a better place
